Changing the overall wheel diameter by 1" reduces the circumference of the wheel by 4.1% provided the same width & profile on the tyres.
The difference in final drive ratios between the a5 gearbox and the a8 gearbox is 4.8% so it's almost equivelant to switching the box to the close ratio one
