Control Arm Fitting...

Hi folks,
Just want to check quickly, do the bolts on the 'hinges' on the control arm for a 4th gen need to be torqued with the car on the ground? The manual says rubber bushings are supposed to be torqued up whilst the car is on the floor with the suspension under load, but won't access be a dancer once the wheel is back on? I've got a piccy below, all the bolts that need torquing are highlighted, but it's the bottom left one I'm not sure on...

I just torqued it up with the wheel off
You could put something under the arm and drop it down on the jack to add weight to it

To answer your question yes, ideally you could do with some ramps for access.

I did have an idea of maybe jacking the hub up from underneath to the point where it's just taking the weight of the car instead of the axle stand... I hate screwing around under cars enough on stands though so I don't know if I'd want to poke my head in the arch in this scenario

Question.... How the drokk do you get access to tighten the bolts up with the arm in situ?

With a crows foot torque wrench (which like me and 99% of DIY mechanics, you won't have of course!)

This is turning out to be more of a mission than I thought, as per usual... My hub is hanging out at a jaunty angle, and the drive shaft has popped out the inner CV joint. No matter what I do I can't get the hub to lean back in again, and the spider (or whatever it's called) won't go back into the joint. I also think I need to get my mallet out, as I torqued up the top mounting nuts and there's still some of the shafts showing, whereas the marks on the inside of the chassis show that previously the flanges were pressed up against the body hard...
Took the dogs for a walk to chill out, and I think I'll tackle this another day. I'm wondering if the lower ball joint is drokked and that's why the hub won't lean back in. The hub and lower arm are looking pretty rotten too - should probably just rebuild the whole drokking thing with new parts

Have you tried jacking under the hub to push the suspension up?

Yeah, looks promising as it goes up but even once the damper is compressed and everything is level it won't push in

Just taken a look at a diagram of the spider, I see the rollers have square bases. Do these all need to be lined up properly or something? Am I just being a retard and it's that simple?
