hi all,
just coming home from work and hear a horrendous squealing noise from under the bonnet

had a quick look and i think its the power steering pump, probably the bearing thats fooked.

i'm gonna try and spray some grease into it see if does anything

has anyone replaced the bearing in theirs, or does anyone have one lying spare for sale
cheers guys.

Hi pal. Are you sure its the bearing?? Could be a worn or loose belt?? Defo check those first. The bearing is a sealed unit so getting spray in there would be near impossible. Defo check all belts first. :D

I may be wrong as to where the noise is coming from
I had it running earlier and the source of the noise was hard to pinpoint
Ill remove the ps belt and run the engine to eliminate or confirm
Just feels like a kick in the bollocks after the same time last year when the auto tensioner failed

Edit. The belt looks fine, not loose or anything and its definately a mechanical noise like a wheels coming loose or something
Also the noise mirrors the engine speed ie when you rev the engine the noise gets faster if that makes sense, so in my mind its something connected by the belts

Ok i see. Could be the ps pump bearings. Or maybe the alternator bearings. Get something long and thin and then put ur ear to it. See where the noise is louder. Sort of a stethoscope method. :D
