2g Wheel Fitment

Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone knows the wheel centre bore for a 2nd gen Prelude?? I've looked online and have found 2 figures, 64.1 and 56.1 :? Offset is ET 35-45 apparently.

I've found a set of wheels I fancy buying, but their centre bore is 57.1 and I don't want to spunk my money up the wall. Also, the offset is 25 :? I don't understand offset so realistically how much will it drokk my life up on the assumption the centre bore fits?

Cheers,
Josh

Ok, THIS is the most basic explanation I can find on offset. Only started reading up on it myself a few weeks ago; and turns out it's pretty simple. ;)

I think your only concerns with a lower offset are wheel diameter & width - because the wheel will stick out more. And similarly with a higher offset such as ET45, the wheel will sit further in.

So with a lower offset like ET25, the wheels are going to sit under the arches & look sick! But if they are too big or wide, they'll rub like a badman over anything that slightly resembles a bump.

I'm guessing that if you went no larger than 16" 7.5J, you'll probably be alright with that offset. But it's difficult to say for sure without trying. Also depends on how high or low your suspension rides I suppose.

Tbh, ET25-45 is only 2cm difference. So I can't see it being a major issue.

The good news is, hub bore is 56.1.

So you can accommodate those wheels using some small spigot rings. ;)

What size & width are the wheels you're looking at?

Sounds good then :) I've found some suitable spigot rings, and hopefully clearance shouldn't be an issue if the wheels are only going to be a couple of cm proud of their stock position. I'm on stock suspension so it's on stilts anyway  The wheels I want are 15x7J, so a little bigger than the current wheels, but not massive.

I'll check at lunch if I remember, I guess if they're narrower it's going to exacerbate the lower offset of the new set isn't it :?

Yeah, really you can't make much of a judgement on how they will fit until you know what the OEM spec is.

Basically take a decrease in offset number and the diff between that and OEM is how much further they'll protrude in mm, then for every inch increase in width add another ~13mm. Plus you need to account for how much room you have if you're increasing diameter, but as you say you're stock so it may not be an issue.

Hmm, ET45 / 5.5J

Just done a fag packet calculation, I make it an additional protrusion of 38.75mm :? I think the wheels would look great, but I'm not sure I've got that much room to play with :(
