4WD / AWD conversions?

Post by Pre_luda_Chris » Sun Apr 30, 2017 2:00 pm

Hi all. I've been wondering about all of this for a while and I wanted to get somethings confirmed. Though to be honest I wanted to see how others would tackle some of these.

What do you all know about these conversions?

Has anyone here done one themselves, or know anyone who has?

Anyone 4WD - MR'd a Prelude or any car?

Would it be possible to keep the 4WS with the 4WD?

Four Wheeled Drive Prelude ? Am I missing something here! :?
I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

Sounds like hassle. I assume you would use crv bits.

dont think about it just do it if its what you wont then its what you wont , i would look to buy a mot failed honda 4wd and use this as my base least that way you have everything you need :D
success is the ability to go from one failure to the next without any loss of enthusiasm :D :D

It's been done before in the states using CRV parts as mentioned above. Huge cost and effort though.

for the nature of the car.. it will be AWD you want.. not 4wd unless you plan of taking it off roading ;)

with deep pockets and the righ fabrication its possible but you wouldnt be able to keep the 4ws as you will need the space for a rear diff.
it can be done with a K20 or k24 by putting it in vertacaly and mounting it to a skyilne gtr gearbox with a custom bellhouing or adapter plate.
much harder to do with a H22a

You have to remember with the extra transmission losses and weight it would be a noticeable amount slower.
I hit the limiter in my h23 vtec still didn't kick in

can be done with a h22 by using a h2b adapter and mounting a 1st gen crv 97/01 transmission to it.

or as mentioned above a full k24 swap out of a 2nd gen crv 02/06

depending on the length of the driveshafts which i'm not too familiar with, you may need to get custom length ones made.

IT IS POSSIBLE :) with time and money :)

You might want to consider boosting it, seeing as the prelude is already a fat pig and adding all that extra weight will make it harder to move haha.

In theory though I can just take apart that honda legend when I would want to do the conversion - > full swap
