Can rear wheel bearings be replaced?

Post by clarelude23 » Fri Feb 09, 2018 9:38 am

Is it a sealed unit or can the bearings be removed from the hub? Iv tried them on the press and don't wanna go above 12 tonne. Hubs are getting very expensive.

I can see the hub assembly can easily be replaced. Can the ball bearings be pressed out of the hub is the question I'm asking?

Pretty sure (it has been a while) there is a circlip in the back of the hub that holds the bearing in place. Once that is removed you can get the old bearing out.

You would struggle finding just the rear bearings as they come as a complete unit, it's just 4 bolts and then it knocks out with a hammer

It's the front bearings that get pressed out with a massive circle clip on it

there is no circlip on the rear hub. Tried pressing them out of the hub on the press but no budging them even with 15 tonne. I just bit the bullet and ordered new hubs :?
