This has properly been asked a hundred times but..... Is there any need to upgrade the rear discs?
I'm currently working on my project lude and I'm wanting to rip out the 2.0 engine for a vtec. I know I have to change the front 260mm to at least 282mm (maybe go for the ATR front conversion) but I haven't read much about the rears on here.

Cheers

no real need to upgrade the rear brakes - most who run their ludes on track concentrate on front brake upgrades.
better discs and pads on the rear should be all thats needed unless your going into serious competition and even then....
i got a set of black diamond predator pads for the rear (about £40) or ferodod ds performance pads are good (about £70)

282mm vtec calipers/carriers and discs are a decent enough upgrade if your on a tight budget :)

I'm not off racing at all. I'm hoping when its finished it'll just be a Sunday car if you get me. I've got some brand new mintex sat in garage for rear pads. The discs are in very good shape and free of any signs of warp. Just a little surface rust at the mo as shes sat on stands awaiting rust treatment!! But if I change me mind i now know were to get better ones. Thanks

I agree with @vanzep
The rear disc size should work well enough with the larger fronts you mention. Just make sure they're in good nick and the pads are decent.

The rear brakes (caliper/carrier/disc diameter) are the same on all engine sizes (and the same on 4th/5th gens - bar the different number of studs) - so you'll be fine stick as the chaps above said.
