about 6 months or so ago i replaced all the discs and pads on the car.

with the rears I wound off the nut on the handbrake cable all the way off, fitted the new pads and discs. Then
used the brake pedal a few times to push the pads out to the discs. Then I adjusted up the nut on the handbrake cable.

now the handbrake has loosened (6 Months or so down the line) and the lever travels a long way again but still holds.

of that tighten up the cable again what other adjustment have i got?

your doing it correctly - the only adjustment is at the nut under the centre console
only thing i can add is that i have seen that the cable has a pivot point at the handbrake lever - this can sometimes get stuck/frozen and can make setting the handbrake evenly both sides difficult...

ill put it in the workshop tomorrow then and just double check that its fairly equal and both wheels are locking and not binding when release.

thank you!

sometimes the most obvious things in front of you can be missed. good to confirm.

No problem buddy glad you got it sorted -tbh most garages dont seem to be able to get this right on the lude and so best doing it yourself - took me a quite a few goes to get things right - last time i noticed the cables were different lengths so adjusting them properly was not possible thats when i noticed the clevis/pivot on the end of the handbrake cable at the caliper was stuck/rusted in one position - after freeing that off the cables adjusted up without too much difference in length ;)
