Callipers failed.. AGAIN

Hi guys,
My rear calliper on the drivers side rear has ceased again while driving home (my car seriously gives with one hand and takes with the other, just after I get 4WS working).
This was replaced April last year so now the calliper is out of warranty, and last time it was £300 odd to get it all replaced.
Now I've only done 4K on this calliper so what would be my rights with the mechanic?
I don't have the knowledge/area to do this myself otherwise I would and save a hundred or so notes but I can't
Thoughts?

Are you sure it's not just the slider pins sticking?
You can get a re-con caliper from your local motor factors for a lot less than you paid.
I got one for my teg 4 yrs ago & it's still fine.

I don't know for sure, I guess it could be the slider pins but I need to take the calliper off for that?
Turns out my last replacement was 2 callipers (both recon), discs and pads + fluid and labour and it was £360 for the lot, so I guess not terrible.

The calipers don't need to come right off.
This picture shows how to get to the slider pins.
Clean them and grease them up with silicone grease.

recon calipers should cost about £60 each on a swap basis. pads about £15, discs 35-40? so you paid 150£ odd for someone to swap over your calipers.
ouch.
my guess is its the slider pins. the recons are never as tight on the seal around the pins in my experience.
I dont know much but I would try that first.

Yeah, the labour was £120 I believe total, the rest was everything else. Labour was down as 2.5 hours.
I'll have to give the slider pins a go this weekend then. Means getting a lift in with the missus at 6:30am the rest of the week though
Looking at your picture (cheers btw) I assume those nuts allow that half of the assembly to just be removed?
Also where would I be able to get the relevant grease from? Hellfrauds or the motor factor?
This is dumb questions 101 time for me. Been at work since 5am

i use castrol hi temp grease, but im sure any will do.

dont use copper grease!

We used copper grease on mine, and 18 months down the line they're still working fine!
I think this opinion is one where the jury is out!
