HELP Finding mk1 CRV 2.0 INNER CV JOINT

Post by h10ndr » Tue Aug 07, 2012 2:24 pm

Hi,

My mate has repaired his split CRV joint boots - but being new to Honda's he made hard work of it and has re-assembled the inner cv joint incorrectly and mashed it up. He now has a vibration. He needs a recon one (new is ££££).

Do any of you guys know where he can buy a recon unit or know which other Honda's share the same CV joint to help source one?

I've just tried J&R Joints on the phone, and he said he had 6 calls in the last hour asking about INNER CRV joints...he says its dealer only....

98 CRV 2.0 Manual INNER CV joint ( I assume this is front )
Any help appreciated.

Breakers buddy, I can't find any online in the UK. Found some US ones but are they the same?

Ta. Found someone who will rebuild the existing shaft on a 2 day turnaround but its £100 - £150 depending on whether both inner and outer needs doing.

I'm looking for a bit cheaper - so might have to give the breakers yard a chance or buy 2nd hand drive shafts off fleebay.

i would check if the cv cup has been scored or damaged as i doubt anyone rebuilding them can sort that out at that price. ive had one rebuilt and wasnt too impressed. you might have to replace the cup so youd be back to finding one in a breakers.

I've seen some info to say the inner joint is the same as 4th Gen Prelude - but going by the info from suppliers there seems to be differences.

My friend has jumped the gun and ordered the inner joint from Honda at £190!!!! but in the meantime I have found this place who quoted these prices to rebuild the CRV driveshaft....

DRIVESHAFT REBUILD - INNER CV JOINT £54 inc vat
FULL DRIVESHAFT REBUILD - £90 inc vat

GB Automotive Components Ltd, 88 Wakefield Road, Ossett, West Yorkshire. WF5 9JX.

Hope this will help someone else in future
