Clicking from the front under acceleration.

Hi guys,

It was very cold last night and I've noticed that whenever the temperature drops to about 5*C or below I get a click from the front when I set off in first.

My suspension is completely standard and I'm on the original 16" blades with 205 50s on. It's a 98 5G vti.

It's not a continuous click click click, just generally a single click.

Last night because of the cold (I'm assuming) it was clicking on every gear change up to third.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
Lee

I had to scrape the windows if that's what you mean.

If you mean the other kind of ICE then yes. 2 Amps and a 12" in the boot.

Thanks.

No ice on the outside, sorry wasn't very clear.

I get clicks/cracks when the car is first started up and driving around when there's ice on it which is it ice cracking as the chassie twist on uneven surfaces. Could that be a possibility if it's not frequent and only when cold?

With the temps dropping now it seems it is a regular occurance. :(

It's definitely seems too heavy a click to be ice on things. You can feel it conducted through the chassis. Although as you say, after the car warms up the clicking stops. Just happens in the first 1-2 miles of driving. :|

It's the front upper bushes (I think!) and mine does it on cold, dry days. Dealer's looked several times & insists they're in good order...

The ARB bushes also creak under such atmospheric conditions.

You could try spraying them all with Silicone & Rubber lubricant.

Or turn up the ICE...

clicking at the front is normally down to cv joints - u could check the driveshaft cv boots especially the ones on inner cv joint.
