Question are the strut braces the same on 4 and 5gen cars

No, 5th gen is wider.

There's also extra studs on the 5g top hats at the front.

Depends.

Front and rear are interchangeable between 4G and 5G.

TypeS strut brace is different, you need either TypeS top hats or coilovers with the correct stud count.

Well ive fitted a cusco from a 4th to a 5th gen before both ftont and rear.

I had a GAB front upper brace that was taken off a 5th that fitted straight on my 4th? Unless it was a 4th brace that had been modded to fit the 5th in the first place.

My ebay special front brace I had on my 4th is now fitted to my 5th, just needed to relocated the brake reservoir slightly

Thats very odd iv seen evidence somewhere that it wouldnt fit. around 3cm too short.
