So, any1 ever had the common shock knock, what were the most noticeable symptoms (what sort of noise's and on what road conditions etc) and did the washer fix cure it??

Think my 5G has started to suffer from shock knock, but would like to hear of others experience with it 1st to give me a better idea.

Noise is a banging from the boot m8. Someone on here got he mrs to drive the car while he was in the boot to hear where it came from
I first changed my rear drop links for new and that made a difference but then put the washers in and now knocks at all, it does work.
Now have to change top rubbers on ARB as down as advisorys on mot.
Worth doing ;)

It's the top mounts more than the dampers, hence the washers. My old 5g suffered from it on the front o/s mildly. Sound like a clunking over bumpy roads and potholes.

Will give it a try in the morning. Do you just use washers and slide them over the bush insert part of the top mount, until they are lever with the top of the insert??

What i am getting is a constant knock from drivers side rear. Its not loud enough to be the actual shockie, but it is a faint constant knocking noise. Dosn't do it over speed bumps, but does do it more on un-even roads. It will also do it while say travelling along the dual carriageway, even though the road is flat. The Teins are very very stiff so that won't be helping either.

I think you have to pack it until it becomes tight again, but I've never done it so I'm not sure.

It could also be an anti roll bar bush or drop link

NOTE* This really should be seen as a temporary fix until you replace the top mount bushes!

Its hard to replicate the noise with the car parked and jacked up, as the suspension is so stiff you can't grab the wheel and lift it up and down. Ive had a look and feel at the surrounding components like ARB and drop links, but they feel fine, no major play or anything.

Any1 got any tips on other ways i could check them though just to make sure.
