JDM Strut tops?

Post by NCCMUR » Fri Feb 15, 2013 9:40 pm

hi all

received my strut brace from STKPrelude today at 11am (cheers Matt)

got it painted and went to fit it at lunchtime, however the holes are there for it (covered by little circles of tape) but no bolts :?

i cant even fit bolts through the holes because the strut top half covers the holes,Matt told me it came off his JDM 5th

so im asking do i need different strut tops number 8 in the pic is the UKDM version and if so does anyone have any?

any help appreciated

cheers

You could maybe modify a pair of uk top mounts by drilling and using a couple of bolts though from the underside. You would need to shave the heads flat or be careful that they didn't interfere with the top of the springs.

i can drill two holes just past the original holes to clear the side of the top mount and use new nuts and bolts,
its just it wouldnt technically be attached to the struts if that makes sense?

I'm no expert but I don't know if that would be a effective.
if its not directly connected to part of the suspension which is what you are trying to stiffen up. :?

I was meaning to remove the uk top mounts from your suspension, or get a spare set cheap, and drill a couple of holes through each of them in the oem jdm locations not the strut tower on the chassis itself. Couple of bolts through the top reassemble the shocks and install up through the holes previously covered by the tape.

Oem fit but custom made.
