Might be a stupid question but on the Golf the rears aren't normal coilovers they are just a shock with a collar at the bottom that can be moved to 3 positions.

Am I right in thinking that the lowest one is for the lowest ride height?

Only reason I ask is with the fronts you compress the spring to reduce the ride height, but I don't know if that applies to the rears

Yeah same idea as the fronts.

I take it you mean they have a shock and a pigtailed spring, with the adjuster cups on the bottom of the spring??

Yeah the lower the seat the lower the ride hight, the front sounds weird having to compress the spring to go lower!

Collar at the bottom is moveable

Fronts the more you compress the spring the lower it goes

Try driving over a collapsed drain.

Lowers ride height much quicker on a 'Lude.
