Brake fluid
Evening,
I returned home from a track day a few weeks ago and when moving the car around I notice there is air in the brake lines. This is something that seems to happen every time with my car. I know the brakes get a real hammering and a bit if air is understandable, but this is a lot. I was thinking of changing the fluid for either AP551 or Ferodo super formula. Does anyone have experience of running higher temp fluid and which might be best? Also how much does a 4th with the ABS unit still in place hold? One last thing, to change the fluid , do I drain resevoir and then top up as I bleed or bleed everything out then refil and bleed through?
Thanks Ash.

What fluid are you using now? Are you loosing any fluid? You have braided hoses installed already?
I have been using Castrol React Performance Dot 4 (Formerly Response Super DOT 4) Synthetic Brake Fluid http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-742-castrol ... fluid.aspx which is meant to be Dry Boiling Point 280ºC /Wet Boiling Point 190ºC with no problems.
Most other people I hear running more extreme fluid is the Motul RBF 600 racing brake fluid http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-894-motul-r ... fluid.aspx . But I think you need to change that every year.
Both of them are Super DOT 4. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/pdfs/tech-art ... fluids.pdf

Thanks Merlin, I have braided hose. I'm not exactly sure of the fluid in it at the mo, my local garage normally sort it for me, but I think they must just be using regular fluid as after every track time there is a lot of air in the system. No visible leaks.
I do cook the pads though so temperature is a major factor.

I did have DS2500, which went volcanic after the last session 18 months ago. So this time I tried EBC redstuff, not examined yet but should have held up better. I'll need to switch between the two brands, Ferodo for sprints and a more ceramic for track days.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
