Clown Car ??

Post by Giomani » Tue May 28, 2013 12:17 pm

Well, loving the tein basics after a weekend of throwing the car about and loving the new firm feel to the handling. But after the rain yesterday, I jump in the car this morning to run to the shops and the suspension is creaking and squeaking really loudly over every bump.. I was making noises that even Bozo the clown would have been jealous of. As it dried out a bit, things improved so I can't post a vid. I guess I need to grease something. What do I need to grease and what grease should I use... Otherwise I will just have to paint the car red and yellow and start doing children's parties... Honk creak honk

Could it be shock knock? I take it you reused your old suspension top hats? I very much regret not installing new top hat bushes while I did my 5G's suspension :(

I'm getting the very same thing after replacing my bushings with polybushes..
They're greased up to the eyeballs as well - must be the coilover bushes...

get a can of halfords silicone spray and attack each area then go for a drive. when you douse the offending set of bushes you will know which ones to go for first next time rather than attacking them all at once and not having a clue.

Chances are the old bushes on the car are giving a bit of a grown as they take up the extra strain now the shocks are harder. be ready to start replacing suspension bushes come next couple of MOT's. If you can do them all at once as its a pita either way.

Ha, thanks guys, it was the rubbers in the top hats. I just sprayed silicon up there in the halfords carpark. Instantly cured the sqeaking and creaking. Yet another top result from LG thanks guys.

I've been getting this since I overdid the Tai Chi on Sunday.

Thanks for the hint:

Yeah, I was on my lunch break :) , just locked the wheels to get in there. TBH I jacked the car up tonight and gave it a proper dose as well just to be sure they got a good covering :geek:

edit - or did I just miss the joke?
