ABS Fault Code Diagnosis

Post by paul bristol uk » Tue Jul 02, 2013 6:46 pm

Hi all, Gayno posting on Paul's account here.

I've just had a look at his car as it has thrown the ABS light while driving.

Doesn't come on when engine has started, only comes on once driven for about 30 seconds.

Did the paper clip test, and engine check light stays on constant.

ABS light flashes as follows:

Half second on -> 4 seconds off -> half second on -> 4 seconds off -> half second on -> off (no more flashes after this)

Any ideas? Can't find how that relates to the fault codes in the wiki.

It stores each code, even the same. Are you sure that's not simply 3 x code 1's for the three times its come on?

Code 1 is usually game over for the ABS system, I know having ripped mine out a while ago from the same code.

Yup sounds like code 1 repeated, there is no known fix bar a new ABS unit

Thanks for the replies(not wanted to hear that though) A big thank you to Gayno for coming round this evening to take a look. BTW he has also taken my PC away to sort out. Top Man.

Yeah that would make sense, as it was only twice, but then changed to 3 times after I took it out for a drive.

Sorry Paul, doesn't sound good.

Haha, no not yet. I haven't had a chance to fire it up since I got back, so I'll have a look in work tomorrow and drop you a text.

I was just gonna say that a simple fix is to just take the bulb out the dash.

Who needs ABS anyway :)
