Lude Generation

Went to replace my rear brake pads last night as one was down to bear metal. Discovered I had anti theft nuts on each wheel but no tool. Managed to get off the one that was on the wheel that was down to bear metal by smashing on a slightly small socket but cant move the others and the left rear is now knackered. Any advice form the experts would be appreciated. How the hell do I get the nuts off without the tool.

By the way I also did not have a wind back tool but will be splashing out for one now. I used a chisel fitted into the grooves to wind the piston back but the force needed was immense and almost defeated me but she's back on the road again - just need to sort out these wheel nuts now.

But have the oem nuts as well incase u wana scrap the idea of locking nuts

with these.
They have a backwards thread cut in to them which in turn cut in to the locking wheel nut for removal..

Dave, the pistons shouldn't be that hard to wind in, that usually means with the piston is corroded, the seals have gone, both or you've not removed the filler cap for the brake fluid! Believe me that makes all the difference!

I've never used the tool, just a big flat headed screw driver! Why waste £15.

I remembered to remove the cap so it cant be that. I am not losing any fluid so the seals must be ok. That just leaves corrosion on the piston. Hopefully I wont need to touch them again now for quite a while. Thanks for the advice. I have used a big flat headed screw driver in the past but believe me I could not believe the force required on the 'lude to turn the piston. Took all my effort and I am a big bloke! Took big chunks out of my thumb every time the chisel slipped. A longer handle would have increased the leverage of course.

Hey man if your stuck like that again remove the brake line nut on the caliper it will fly back in but you will have to bleed the system. As far as the nut if you don't buy the right tool try a hammer and builders chisel, if you can see enough of the nut turn the chisel at an angle and keep hitting it in the anticlockwise direction.

Either locking wheel nut removal sockets from halfords, or weld a 17mm - 19mm nut to the Locking nut
