I've read more than once that Jim Clark's contemporaries reckoned he could drive anything to its full potential. And Moss, of course, famously won loads of stuff in sports cars as well as Grand Prix cars. These days, that sort of crossover is rarely as successful.
As the article says: One of the great lessons of this exercise is to underline the dubiousness of using only statistics to back up any argument about who is the greatest racing driver of all time.
