These are going for silly money just now seen someone selling engine and box for £1000 though so this is a little OTT if you ask me.

given the difficulty and expense in rebuilding them, the demand for an engine to swap is only going to push prices up.
If it comes with the top end, then its called al ong block i believe. Short block is just the bottom end as far as i know.
couldn't find a B16a2 for my friends del sol for love nor money (well, reasonable money).
Shame really, its the way it goes - just like all the metro turbo's , engines went into minis. End result, no metro turbos left.
wifes pug 207, same engine is fitted in about 3 other cars, plenty to choose from on ebay, all about £300 - happy days (even if i didn't believe the mileage).

a7's have always demanded a lot of money. For years they've been advertised for £800 plus for "Engine swap/conversions" from breakers. That's nothing unusual. Doesn't mean it's justified mind

I never knew that! I always assumed "Short block" was the same as "Small block" and "Long block" the same as "Big block"!

With those prices no wonder some ATR guys look for H22a's as a replacement.

It's drokking nuts, considering there's another A7 with 50k less miles and all ancillaries on eBay for £495...
And yep, long block. I didn't bother reading the whole advert tbh, after seeing the price and falling off my chair, I got as far as a speed read that it didn't come with ancillaries and stopped there.
