I was thinking the CL7 Accord, they seem to be around the 7-8k mark. I agree that Integra DC5 are a significant step up in price but also 10 years younger.
I've had a red UKDM DC2 (reg was V11NTR), couple of S2000s (one was BG02DGX, the other was USDM), a few days driving in a colleague's EP3 (he had it as a company car, I really liked the EP3 by the way), and loads of older stuff back when it wasn't that old such as the EK9 VTi (N875JCK), CRX VT (H903GTT). I nearly bought a DC2 in 2013/14 (around the time I joined this forum with the username texasjohn), a UKDM car with about 56k for £5000. I think I missed the boat on that one!
I test drove a Prelude 2.2VTi (can't remember if it was a 185 or 197 hp) at a Honda dealership when I had the CRX VT. It didn't feel much quicker, but then it is a heavier chassis. I've always liked the shape / styling / character of the Preludes and the odd half a second to sixty or outright cornering ability of a DC5/EP3 compared to the Prelude doesn't really matter to me; it'll be a car to keep and cherish. I am fortunate to have a recent BMW as a daily driver car, so I will be continuing to use that most of the time.

CL7 Accords are also decent , I would love to own an EK9 Civic Type R as well.
As for the DC5 being 10 years younger, my Prelude Type S is a 1999, DC5's started in 2001. So it really depends.
Also, as you have a daily I would worry less about age. My daily for getting to work and back etc. is an old Lexus GS300, great for wafting up and down the motorway. My Prelude is tucked up in the garage and only used in decent weather.

Yes, good point on the ages...I guess I was thinking 05-06 DC5 vs 97 Prelude.
I think your importer have a CL7 on their website (had a quick look yesterday).

The good thing about a CL7 is that they are practical as well if you need that. Torque GT buy cars for stock when they come across really good examples, they also import to order, so if you call them and tell them what you want, they will try and find one for youtexasjohn74 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 11:04 amYes, good point on the ages...I guess I was thinking 05-06 DC5 vs 97 Prelude.

Not owned a Type-S, but from monitoring others ownership experience on here, ATTS is fine reliability-wise - the only problem is a couple of oil pressure sensors on the box that can fail.
Simple part, but expensive and one is a complete PITA to access. Bearing in mind the car is now 20 years old (so the original has lasted that long) if it fails while you have it, it's likely to be something you only have to replace the once in your entire time of owning it?

So atts oil pressure sensors are over £450 alone. Each. The left oil sensor is a 12 hour job to change. So we'll over 1k just to change a sensor.
Atts is also sensitive. Got a nail in the tyre or low tyre pressure atts throws a wobbly. Easily reset though.
For the most part atts is very reliable. Until you modify stuff. I ended up ditching it and going full helical lsd and opened up a world of full tuning opportunities.
They might be 20 years old but 20 years ago jap cars are more reliable than today. And just as well built.

My ATTS light came on and it was the oil sensor that needed it doing, so at least £1k there plus I had some rust issues (that's my own fault for not taking care of it). This made me want to break my Type-S in the end.
Luckily for me, Aaron was selling his S-Spec so I quickly jumped on it. Same engine as the Type-S but without any ATTS so more tuner friendly and less to go wrong with. Let's face it most Honda owners will want to modify the car in some way or other.
That being said, when ATTS was working fine it was the best experience ever..

Had to go back to the Honda dealer yesterday and today (had to return the newly acquired civic for a full refund) - service chap told me the Type S was still out the back if i wanted to take a look. Perhaps the sale didn't go through after all or just awaiting collection, who knows...
Good news is we've purchased another 10th gen Honda Civic elsewhere, this time a 1.5 Sport which is a much better drive than the 3cyl 1.0...
