Amazon. Kindle. eBooks. How many of you are making use of these three things regularly? Did you know any books on your Kindle don't belong to you? They are only rented to you by Amazon? Did you know Amazon can close your account, erase your eBooks, and render your Kindle a paperweight without warning, and without having to tell you why?

It's the same with almost all digital media these days - ebooks, iTunes, digital game downloads. Not an issue for 99.99% of people, but worth being aware of.

If you go online to the xbox live website you can move your licences relating to downloads over to your current xbox - this ensures that you can use DLC without a connection to xbox live. Then when the old xbox live goes down it won't be a problem, you can still play your DLC :)

maybe depends on what microsoft do

say the xbox 720 or whatever comes out, with a new xbox live service

will we be able to use our downloads on it?

Probably, but then that would be like playing PS2 games on a PS3. Utterly crap.

Don't have my Xbox plugged into the internet at the moment and can still play my DLed games.

I'm not suggesting that, just saying that any DLC you have on your 360 will still work without xbox live, provided you've updated your licence to register the software to your current console. If the DLC was downloaded on that console, the licence won't even need updating, it'll work offline from day 1 :)

Realistically though, will you still play the 360 after the new one comes out? I spent hundreds on my PS2, now it's in a box in the loft

I have both, absolutely hate the PS3 controller though. It's too small for my hands, and the d-pad and analogue sticks should have their locations swapped - the layout predates the majority of games using the analogue stick

At least it doesn't give you the dreaded Nintendo 64 'claw hands' though
