Lude Generation

So i was out yesterday in north wales, decided with a few lads we would go see the banger racing. so we turned up, wasnt a huge affair, but a sunny day and ppl having fun, was good times!

After a couple of hours of the little KA's and civics racing around we went to have a look at the racing paddock, see what other cars hadnt made it onto the track yet. there was an old Audi Coupe, some big old lexus, someone seemed to be using one of those Nissan 8 ppl people carriers too, but then i see this from the rear 3/4 and im like...... i know what this car is -


Yep, its a stripped to hell Mk4 prelude!!!! everything was gone, the roof and bonnet had been made from a thin bit of metal sheeting, and aside from the gearstick, steering wheel, pedals and drivers seat. there was near enough nothing else inside!!!

Anyway it turns out the reason we hadnt seen it race is that it was one of the cars that had made it through to the days finals

so heres a quick pic as they were setting off for the final race - note the tractor spraying the water on the track just before the race!!


Great little finals race all in all, we ended up seeing a little souped up micra flipping over, and a guy in a lovely yellow mr2 was written off about 4 corners in (Which was a hell of a shame, as i rarely see a motor with panels that good on the ROAD!

Close race all in all, but at the day there can be only one winner for the days racing

pity to see them smashed about, but at least if people are doing that to them, they are at least winning!

I bet that would be awesome fun!

Just hope it was a rusty shell and not a solid one.

If i ever part with my lude this is how id like it to go - my 4th gen has quite a few dents in it so it would seem fitting

Nice find. Sort of if it was a 5g everyone would get out of way for fear of being hit by the headlights

5g's don't race because the lights have to be removed for banger racing and I'm pretty sure 5g headlights are structural haha

Have you seen the Mini-minus shell? Full fibreglass ..someone should make a plastic 4g shell so our cars don't rust anymore! Or full carbon, I'm sure someone here makes carbon moulds

@riverghost: I wish there was more cheap motorsprt fun available round here. It's all bloody bridle paths. That looks like a top day for a few beers and a laugh. Good skills mate
