Arch liners/undertrays ...just how important are they??

when the garage rebuilt the front of my car they didnt attach the wheel arch liners at the front as there was no undertray - so i went for a blast and they both folded up into the wheel well- bit of scary moment

ive just cable tied them up and theyre fine

I would be nervous about driving without the drivers side wheel arch liner in place. It is the only thing stopping my car sucking up water into the intake (I have the resonator removed on my 4th gen).

All the front splash guard seems to do for me is catch dropped nuts and sockets then hides them away out of my reach

the last one was the oil filler cap
