yeah you could just weld in the rusty skin from a 4th gen :lol: !

carbon looks much nicer though ;)

the sunroof itself isnt that heavy, its the mechnism!

ive done it on other cars by wrapping the outside edge of the steel sunroof with a piece of 5mm wire rod which you can tack weld to the sunroof as you fold it very neatly around the top edge and then once its back in its hole you can weld it into the roof. 5mm is a good fit on a bmw compact but ive never measured a prelude one.

best and easyest way is keep the fuel to a minimal, almost 1kg per lt :o

The glass weighs 25kg?

I'd be hesistant to agree with that! My experience/knowledge tells me that glass weighs 2.5kg per square metre for each 1mm of thickness. Assuming the sunroof is 4mm thick that's 10kg/m^2 and you can work the rest out.

The whole sunroof with gubbins (motor, runners etc) weighs 25kgs. I'll be making a CF roof skin....... eventually. Still have a list of other parts to make :?

Can't you just pop rivet a piece of ali sheet over the gap?
