Sorry to bump a very old thread but is anyone still running bonnet gas struts and would/wouldn't recommend them?

The only ones I've been able to find are these on Amazon, they don't inspire me with confidence though.

I have some of them for years now. Not exactly this brand but also came from China iirc. I can't complain. Mounts get a bit rusty by now but they still doing their job as they should. One advice would be to fill strut ends, where ball going into with some silicone/marine grease to protect them against moisture and rust.

I have these exact ones and the damper tube catches the wing inside the engine bay creating rust and creating a slight gap on the bonnet shut line raising it up a bit. But work fine.

Thanks for the info guys, I think I'll go ahead and order some and see how I get on.

Can they be adjusted/adapted to remove the clash condition that you mentioned Ratty?
