Morning all!

I had the pleasure of helping my mate Scott give his mates motor a bit of a spruce up before he trades it in against either a Bentley Continental or a Nissan GTR :)

To be fair, it wasn't in bad condition to start with, a few RDS here and there, and some general wash induced swirling.

A few befores:

The process was:
  • Snowfoam with Magifoam
  • 2BM wash with ValetPro Wash & Protect
  • Clay using P32 as a lube and Serious Performance Fine Clay
  • Wheels cleaned with Very Cherry non acid, Purple Rain and Just The Tonic
  • Glass cleaned with Fast Glass
  • Exhaust polished with Autosol on a microfibre (no wire wool :()
  • Polished using various polishes (XPert 1000 & 1500, Menzerna Power Gloss where needed, and a mystery product (VERY good indeed).
  • IPA wipedown between polishing stages
  • Waxed using Dodo Juice Blue Velvet Pro
  • Megs Endurance for the tyres
A few during:

RDS on bonnet, dealt with by XPert polishes (see review thread for more on this):

Before polishing, pretty swirl free tbh:

Now light was seriously fading by the time we'd finished up, so apologies for the poor afters :(

The best bit for us both after Neil saw the car was that he was thoroughly impressed, he's reluctant to get rid now!

Cheers :D

@simoncider, clay basically helps remove tree sap, tar deposits and other fallout from your paint leaving it smoother than a pornstars poon. Lube is just that, helps the clay glide over the paint, stopping it stick.

I'm lost too on the vocab too, foam after polish!! don't understand. Perhaps a step by step tutorial would be appreciated by us non- detailers to date. including chemicals / products used at each step.

I could do that given time :D

Foam after polish helps to remove any polish dust and residue prior to the last few steps being complete :)

Yeah, a step by step guide would be nice; including what tools were used. ;)

I know there are other polishing guides on here - but would be nice to see how they compare. :)
