Depends on the damage. Get some pics and I'll guide you.

If you are doing it by hand, buy some Prima Amigo which is a heavy filling glaze and will last a while. Top it off with a wax or sealant.
Autoglym SRP should be ok too, although I've not used the new formula. Again topped off with a wax or sealant.
You can't really get scratch removal by hand without a jobby load of effort. I'll try and find a post DaveKG did on DW.
This will give you time to save up for a machine polisher

Here you go, five hits by hand to get results though. Fook that.

If you are wet sanding, you will definitely need a machine polisher to sort out the sanding marks.

I guarantee they wont polish out. You can wet sand Honda paint with 1500-2000grit and be through the lacquer layer after 6or7passes of the wet sand.
I polished a scratch out of a Civic door the other day and burned though as soon as the foam hit the door but i suspect the owner tried to get it out herself and didnt tell me.

Ok, so I took some pics of the damage.
First is running along the top of the spoiler. Been touched up at some point:
Second is along the front of the bonnet where an old badge was removed and pulled all the paint off. I have tried to hide the worst of it with a crappy badge of my own but it really looks terrible!
