Post by Thebusofwoe » Mon Mar 10, 2014 11:34 pm

Hi guys.

I have a set of wind deflectors to go on my 4th gen whilst i am waiting on parts. I have the whole kit, clips, screws ect 8-) Can anyone please help me on how to fit them. I have even asked my master tech, hes been working on Hondas since the early 90's  and hes never fitted a set :?. Any info/pics would be great. I want to get as much info as poss before attempting to fit them. :)
Thanks fellas :D

I'm sure you have to do the window down a little bit, remove the rubber from the window and on top you should see the holes in which your little clips should fit and that's about it 8-)

the deflectors screw into the door frame - if you pull back the rubber seal round the top of the door you will see the holes - you will need to make slits in the door seal to line up with the holes-refit the seal and then offer up the deflector and screw it into place. There is also 1 clip that goes from the end of the deflector into the side of the door frame-this clip slots into place rather than screws in-again you will need to make slits inthe door seal to fit it-this clip is then held in place by a small plastic rivet.
Im sure pushki or someone will have done a write up on how to fit them with pics.

Hold that bit about slitting the door seal - looks like you can fit them without doing that - here is a link to info on puk which show a few pics

yep thanks for putting the pics up they speak a thousand words
(ive always thought there were slits cut in the door seal to fit them -now i see the pics its clear there is a lower and upper seal and the clips simply slot in between them.) The last pic shows the clip that holds the deflector in at the side - this just slots into place and is fixed into the deflector with a small black plastic rivet.

fixings

Four of them you have to screw into window frame. For fifth (first from right) you have to make small cut in door seal and only push it in.

The easiest way to pull the inside seal
Image
Just grab it and pull to the top and front of the car at the same time. Then under it you will find this

Image
There is four of them holes. Also you have to deinstall another seal which is under the frame. Basically between this frame and glass. It's a real pitta to put it back, but if I made it then you can do it as well ;)

You have to install four of brackets like that

This was easy part. Now reinstall seals. This need some patient and take time. Don't use screwdriver as seals are quite easy to cut with it. I found wooden spatula was very handy. You can also use a bit of oil (even cooking one will be good) for easier installation.

Then you install fifth bracket. You have to measure where to put it in, then make one small vertical cut (stanley knife) and press it through the seal to its place. It's a bit tricky as it have to sit in glass frame under the seal and you can't see anything. Sorry no photo of this one :? When you finally get there you can say job was done.
The last bit. You have to open the window and screw in wind deflector (4 screws each side)
Image
Then you press small clip through wind deflector and fifth bracket. It goes here

Repeat on the other side :D
