how real does carbon wrap look when lacquered?

Right, im after any eye witness accounts of carbon wrap having been lacquered.
I have a couple if cheeky plans but carbon wrap does not at all look like carbon imho. its a personal thing and i recognise that not eveyone has my view of carbon wrap but i just dont think it looks right. there is no 3d definition, no angle of visual absorption and no engagement. it just loks like a textured sticker
But. i have heard that if you lacquer it you can get a much better effect. a much more 'real' look.
is this correct? its subjective but what do you think?
