The lacquer smooths it somewhat, but it is slightly textured due to the lines of paint.

But no. You really need airbrushes and the time it takes isnt economical business wise.

I have all my airbrush kit still, it's how I started out. Crash helmets, leather jackets, DM's, couple of bike fuel tanks.
Sadly, as Ratty says, with the advent of full colour graphics and print, most people just won't pay what you need to charge to make it worthwhile, otherwise I'd be offering TBH. :(
Decent artwork on a cam cover would take many hours.
