WHAT IS IT, AND WHAT DOES IT DO?
Sonax XTREME Brilliant Shine Detailer (BSD)

Lifted from Sonax:
For fast, interim paintwork care. Cleans slightly soiled surfaces gently and thoroughly, without scratches. It enhances the paintwork finish and gives the paintwork a velvety smooth surface and a brilliant deep shine. It freshens up existing wax finishes and provides an additional water drip-off effect. A high quality SONAX Microfibre cloth is included for an optimum application and perfect results.


APPLICATION METHOD AND DESCRIPTION:
Well, the car got a snowfoam and 2BM wash prior to the BSD. Application was as per any other quick detailing spray, a light spritz on the panel, spread and buffed in with a deep plush microfibre towel until clear.

CONCLUSIVE COMMENTS:
Well, what can I say. First things first, it is ridiculously easy to apply, little to no smearing when applying, and it smells divine (real coconut scent, doesn't smell artificial). The looks speak for themselves. The Prelude has had only but a smidge of correction on two small areas, drivers side of the bonnet and a smidge on the rear quarter (drivers side), and the gloss offered from the product is great. A little also goes a very very long way. In short, it's Bloody Super Dooper!

WOULD YOU BUY IT AGAIN?
I will be buying 5L once the car is through it's MOT!

UPDATE

Well, I got bored of waiting for the rain to see the effects of BSD, so this morning prior to work, I grabbed a spray bottle and camera and had at it. Now I left a 'control' section which had no product applied, so that I can show you the contrast. For information, the control section has been washed only since having AB Cherry Glaze applied circa 6 weeks ago.

Given this was a spray and wipe type product, I am mightily impressed. The water cleared from the bonnet quickly and sheeted nicely up as I was driving along. Now here is the killer. If this lasts for around 3 weeks or more, I could see me replacing a traditional LSP if the protection is up to it during the summer. Not something I thought I'd do.

Today I gave the car a quick wash as there was some dust, and captured some water behaviour videos, before and after the wash. First, before:

Morning Nick, I used to be a big fan of Sonax stuff but for some reason you cannot buy the stuff over here for love nor money. The supply seemed to dry up about 12 months ago so I changed to Meguiar's stuff and have been bloody impressed with everything I've used.
It's more expensive than the Sonax stuff was but I've become a big fan.
You car looks very nice by the way.

Not sure if you saw my post on DW Nick, which went -

I had high hopes for BSD, but found it grabby, smeary and hard work on my awkward NHB Honda paint. It left the paint surface not particularly smooth and left application marks on my black paint. But the beading is AWESOME!

Somewhere within the 155+ page BSD thread i said that the perfect QD would be cross between CG V7 and BSD. V7 goes on so well, buffs off easy, leaves your paint super slick, but the beading is not so awesome.

Well for those of you like me who don't get on with BSD, is bring you BSDV7!




A straight forward 50/50 mix given a good shake.

Well it goes on like V7, smooth and slick, buffs of easy and leaves a nice shine.




A few squirts of H20 and i must say, the beading ain't too bad :thumb:



Not quite as rounded as BSD on it's own, almost impossible to tell the difference, but infinitely better than V7 on it's own.

Too many choices

Yep, I find car detailing far too confusing a world to enter tbh...

me too.. Halfords 3 for 2 is about as close as I get to proper car detailing. I have a Megs DA polisher which I am too afraid to use in case it makes my paint vanish!

I recommend using this for your front bumper...
