This is my aerial (or lack of):






Can someone tell me:

1. How to get a access to remove it?
2. How to replace it?
3. If the existing aerial salvageable (radio just about good reception, u can hear the motor whirring ok car start/off) just a snapped aerial?

Pull the trim out of the boot and its all there behind it. Beware though Honda designed the aerial to go down as soon as the boot lid was opened not sure how to get round it with a non genuine one but as for repairing the existing one I'm sure it can be done if it was me I'd wait for a good second hand one.

I had to replace my standard aerial some years ago after being vandalised. The aftermarket one DID NOT retract automatically if the boot latch was opened, to avoid the raised aerial snagging on the boot spoiler. My guess is you'd have to go to Honda for an EXACT replacement that works in all 3 modes. Or make -do's, I personally, don't find this a big issue

Didnt know about the auto retract when boot opens

I have bought a used non-Honda one fitted to a Honda Accord.

So will have a go and see what happens.

Found a used one - any good?








Couldnt figure out how to remove used aerial,
There is a bolt we removed holding aerial inside the boot,
But we couldnt remove the aerial bit on the boot - so we ripped it out thru the body work!


So how do u remove it from on boot?
There is 2 notches (u see one of them in the pic),
We tried and tried to unscrew it:






Does the aerial fully retract so u see no aerial?
As this one seem to permanently stuck out.
As u can just see its squashed at the bottom of the aerial ..

It should retract all the way.

Before I filled and smoothed mine off, I had a bung in the hole and fitted an aftermarket hidden aerial (sits in the roof lining) might be easier?

to remove the aeriel you get a pair of long nose pliers and turn that chrome bit at the top or get a flat screwdriver and tap it round with a hammer I hope it wasn't that grey one you ripped it out of

It dosent seem to retract all the way.
So i been ripped then

Yeah it was the grey one.
Its actually a rust pot underneath!

The reason it won't retract is because of that bend you show in this picture:


That will stop the aerial from sliding back ito the tube. So it's knackered I'm afraid.

What's up with your old one? It may be possible to cobble together a good one from the two?
Also I think you can buy some after market inserts (replacement retracting aerial bit) that could be used to replace that part at least.

As to unscrewing the top of it, merc has described it perfectly, but I normally find after years, they're corroded solid and the only way to undo them is with a pair of mole grips (which wrecks the top unfortunately). I replaced the tops with new on mine and Lisa's lude and put loads of copper ease on the thread when I reassembled!
