Machine polisher

Hey all,

Looking to get in on the act of car cleaning using a machine polisher. Been doing it up until now by hand, but as i am getting a bit older and ahem, wiser, i think it is time to make the switch!

Also want to get better results on my new acquisition

So, any pointers on which models are best, which features are necessary etc would be much appreciated.

Don't want to break the bank with this though

DA's (Random) are good for sanding, when it comes to polishing you want a rotary one.

So rotary, NOT orbital

I was nearly asking about orbital polishers but substituted the word "machine" at the last minute

Sorry Phil. Be careful with a proper polisher though, leave it in one place too long an you'll burn the paint, but to be honest you'd have to be a complete numpty to go that far. And stay away from the edges of panels as the paint's really thin on edges.

i thought that why you use a random orbiter one to stop the paint getting burt/melt/generally messed up!

DA is safer, and dead easy to use on Honda butter soft paint.

I have the Das-6, or look to the Das-6 Pro if you want to spend a bit more money.

Yer a Dual rotary is safer. Instead of just spinning around it moves left and right and up and down whilst spinning.
And yer you get alot of surface tension on edges and very easy to burn through. Iv done this on many occasions on my repairs when i 1st started out.

Just keep the panel wet with water and your golden.
