Freeing stuck sunroof?

Hi guys, I'm going to have a go at opening my jammed sunroof tomorrow. Any tips? It's a carbon jobby so don't want to be using too much brute force! The motor runs but the roof doesn't budge :?

Thanks in advance!

Does the motor actually turn, or just make a noise like it wants to turn? Does it make a chattering noise?

You could unbolt the whole mechanism from below and drop it out into the car, complete? That way you could look at it all over to see why it's stuck without applying any force?

The motor is turning but the roof ain't moving. To be fair I only tried for a few seconds. If I can't free it up I'll drop it out. Searching for leaks, the car is turning into a goldfish bowl lol

If the motor is turning but the roof isn't moving, the cables must have snapped or be slipping somehow I reckon.

Bummer - I had a a spare sunroof mechanism sat in the shed for nearly 2 years that you could have had for free, but it finally went to the metal recyclers over christmas!

We had this after some little scroat ran over the aerodecks roof.

I had to hold the button down and 'lightly bash' the roof  from the inside to get it moving.
OK, I know it sounds bad, but I'm sure you know what I mean. :D After we freed it up once, it worked faultlessly.

The mechanism must've re-engaged.

Yeah, I think they had literally just jammed it where they had distorted the roof.

I'm sure Prelude sunroofs can be opened manually.
Have a look in your toolkit for the winding tool.

'S' shaped tool in the picture.

You certainly can with 3g's, and that tool looks identical

Yep, you can always manually wind sunroofs, but if the motor is turning, in this instance I don't see that would make a lot of difference?
