Bonnet raisers..

It's a misguided attempt to cool the engine bay. :facepalm:

If I remember correctly, when tested, they actually increase under bonnet temps due to the turbulence at the back of the bonnet when the car is moving.

[edit] And yes, they do make the car look like it's been in an accident.

I wondered if it was because of massive modifications that meant the bonnet has to sit physically higher - big turbo manifold, or huge throttle bodies or something.. weird.

On occasion some engine transplants need the bonnet raised (evo lump into proton) to clear parts.

Personally I think it looks cool. Especially if U have a blingy bay. People can sneak a peak.

But what do I know, I put big wings on FWD cars
