Hi guys,
In the process of respraying my sunroof. Have had a good go at it but it has come out quite patchy. I haven't put any clearcoat laqure on it yet because I am wondering if there is anyway of smoothing out the paint before doing laqure so it's not so patchy.
Polish or T-cut maybe???

More paint, more paint, more paint.. then gently flat it back with some 2000grit wet n dry, then a good cutting compound should even it all out and leave a nice finish.
PS, I am no painter, but this is how I paint things and they generally come out ok.. ish. I'm sure you'll get much better responses soon.

chris - big flat panels are almost impossible to get right with a rattle can - you really need to load the paint on and move quickly - best advice is sand it back, bit of primer then paint it again - keep working the one panel until you get a better feel for it. I got one of the trigger gun attachment that fits onto spray cans and that made a big difference
I rekon you will need at least two cans of topcoat and 1 can of laquer to do a panel that size.
im a total amateur so advice is from that perspective

Yup agree.... painting is all preparation, stick a few more coats on, wet sand it, using fine grade paper 1200, then see what it looks like, should bring it up pretty well, then do the clear coat or lacquer top coat,
But tbh, I wouldn't have thought a sprayer would have charged much to do just a sunroof

Ahh balls lol Thought heat was the problem, I've used 2 cans already and it was drying fast.
Will have to wait until next payday now to get some more cans.
I did think about getting someone to spray it but I like to try things myself first. Going to borrow my cousins gun and compressor, should be able to get finer coats and cover better.
Cheers guys, will keep working on it.
