There are a few scars in the paint on this new 5g of mine. Looks like the result of bird poo having been left on the paintwork too long

Have you guys/girls got any ideas how I can clean it up  .. or will I be stuck with it until respray

It usually eats into the lacquer a bit, I had to get mine re-lacquered as anything else would have made the panel look off. According to chips away anyway!

you just need to gently cut back past the marks. two stage at least. this means you need two different grades of polish. one to cut (tcut maybe) and then one to polish it back (Autoglym SRP maybe). you will have to be gentle and it will take time but you can easily get these marks out with a sunday afternoon....

halfords are doing a three for two on car cleaning stuff at the moment near me so probs nationwide.

Might be worth noting that with SRP you get a free cloth thingy too 8-) free stuff is always great.

I work for chipsaway and I rekon a 1500 wet and dry cut back and cutting polish with a machine. I do this all the time for customers. Works a treat.

^^^ :o I agree but maybe if your trained with the items you suggest.

For home use I honestly wouldn't recommend he go at it with sandpaper... things go from bad to worse very quickly and without a decent rotary he's never going to get those scratches out.

Its time and patience when it comes to home paint correction imho. softer products and time. bit of tcut on a towel, slow circular application.

when my car had just been sprayed, got some bird jobby wiped off with a paper towel and got small scratches.

paint was still quite soft, but just shows how easy it is

was not happy, but lesson learned
