Type S rear lip

Post by ATR84 » Wed Nov 14, 2018 8:12 am

Since owning my Type S I have noticed that the 'shape' of the rear lip is strange, in that, it is not straight and bends down as it gets closer to the exhaust. See below pic for reference. My first thought was that something had happened to my rear lip at some stage, the car is 20 years old after all. However, a quick google image search seems to suggest they came like that from new. See another random pic of one I found online: https://goo.gl/images/YNgVhd

So my question is, do I leave it or put another lip on there? If it wasn't for this issue I would leave it, but I think I would rather have a lip on there that doesn't look broken. I don't really want to change the whole lip kit, would a motegi rear lip for example, look ok with the rest of the kit left as is?

If it was mine, I'd get a flat piece of long aluminium bar and sika flex it to the backside to pull it straight and give it rigidity. That way your not messing with swapping bumpers or matching paint codes.

That's what I was going to suggest. You just need to stiffen it up, cheap and easy... Like Nitin! :D
