I have been away for a few weeks and now I'm back I've been itching to get stuck back into my list of jobs on the lude so....

I spend a very productive day today sorting out the lights on the car. I thought I would do a little write up as I am most pleased with the results :)

I will get some pics up tomorrow as it is getting dark now.

All the lights on the car were very dulled and the fronts especially were covered in a lot of tiny stone chips.

Started off by removing all the lights - headlights, indicators and rear light clusters and rear fog.
Gave them a good clean up with warm water and brush.
Got some 1200 grit and sanded the chips out with the paper on a block and WET.
Once I was happy I moved up to 1500 grit and wet sanded across the 1200 marks.
Continued this with 2000, 2500 and 3000 grit.
The 3000 grit I used on a DA with a foam backer pad.

Then I got the polisher out with a 3M green compounding pad and some Meguirs Plast-X plastic polish.

Locked the lights down in the Workmate and gave then a good polish, keeping it damp with a mist spray from a plant mister.

Finished off with anther good wash in warm water.

The difference is amazing, the lenses are all crystal clear now. It makes a real difference to the look of the car. Well worth doing!

*** Don't try it unless you have a machine polisher and pads as I don't think you would polish it up by hand ***

I used some stuff from Pinball Wizard and whilst you could have polished it by hand, your arms would have fallen off several times.

Shame that the cararacts started to come back within six summer months - another reason I run with rice lights.
