Boot rust issues

Hi all
Only had my Lude a few weeks and it's in general very good condition.

I'm just making a list of jobs I want to sort and first thing is a bit of water in the boot well.

I'm not sure where it's coming in yet, but I believe the sunroof drains are a place to look.
Are there any images of this so I know what to look for? I read you need to take the boot carpet out?

Also, there is rust forming around the boot rubber that needs sorting asap. Are the rubbers easy to to remove and put back on after treating the rust?

I have some Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 to use on the rust and was then going to paint over. Does this sound ok?

Really enjoying this forum and learning from everyone.

Boot rust under the rubber is something I'm tackling in March with warmer months.
I did the following 10 years ago and replaced reused the rubber trim.....that was a mistake as it returned from the reused rubber.

I have bought a brand new oem rubber direct from Honda. It's about £100.
Going to remove and bin the existing rubber it distorts with rust and never goes back on the same and the old rubber holds moisture.
Use a Dremel with a wire wool attachment and grind out all the rust, decrease and treat with hydrate 80 twice over 3 hours and leave for 24hours.
Then zinc primer follower by white Bilt Hamber epoxy mastic. My car is white so I'm going to leave it at that as you won't notice a colour difference e and put the new rubber on.

If I was you I would remove the rear lights at the same time and treat behind those and buy brand new oem light gaskets also to replace.

Brilliant, thanks for the reply. That's pretty much what I was thinking of doing.
Where do you get the light gaskets? Are they direct from Honda?

You can check the rear light seal too, especially if you've got any water behind the side panels in the boot. Just pull the carpet stuff away and if the seals feel damp that could be the culprit.
