Anyone used this for bodywork?

Looks like it might do a better job at holding back rust than acid etch primer.

its zinc primer, difference between zinc and a etch is bonding to bare metal. acid etch will bond better then zinc primer. lot of people use etch first and then high build primer or anti-corrosion primer over.

Zinc primer will allow you to weld straight through it without having to scrape it away - I'm using it on all the new bits of metal I've put on the Anglia because I can't guarantee I won't have to weld over it again!

That reminds me, I need to pick up some more tins of it, I've been using the David's Zinc 182

I don't get that. I thought the zinc would need to be in direct contact with the bare metal to provide any corrosion protection?

I used to have a car that wasn't galvanised. As soon as a stone chip started to go rusty, I could see it get bigger each week!

Wouldn't it be more like standard to galvanise directly to the metal

Just use Bilt Hamber etchweld. Its can be used on welding and is an excellent etch primer.
