Roof trim strips

Post by Pushki » Mon Aug 27, 2012 1:30 pm

I'm wanting to remove the roof trim strips to clean them and to clean underneath them.
I'm afraid of breaking the clips. Does anyone have any useful tips? :scaredtoss:

Mine just slid out, a bit like these lock things:

That's the best way I can describe it :? Just don't pull too hard and you'll be okay.

Do they slide front to back or vice-versa?

I believe it's front to back, at least on my 5G there is just a clip at each end, no intermediate clip as shown in your picture. Imagine pinching in the middle of the trim and pulling up, they come out that way, if it was the other way around then the trim would just come off when laying flush.

There was a little bit but not a great deal. Mostly just gunk around the clips themselves.

Every time the car is polished/waxed these are removed. Never had any problems putting them back on :)

Cool! I've never taken mine off for fear of breakages. :scaredtoss:
