I thought I would update on this thread.
Unfortunately a week or so later the marks did return so I think cheap lacquer is the most likely culprit :(
Will have to get it resprayed at some point.

That is unlucky however you can try some dodo juice blue hard wax. I use that on my 4th gen and it does make a difference.
