Water leaking into boot

I'm getting a lot of water in the boot whenever it rains.

I've checked all the clips holding the strip along the bottom of the rear windscreen, and they all seem secure.

Rear washer jet was checked and sealed last year, plus there's too much to be coming in via there.

So what else could it be?!

Can you tell whether its coming in near the screen or further back? Might well be the rear lights. I changed my lights recently, and was surprised how little there is sealing them. Any water running down the gulleys at the side of the boot lid runs over the 'lip' above the lights. There is no seal to stop it running between the steel and plastic. Simply a foam gasket that the light cluster is pulled up against. Even with standard lights one of my gaskets felt quite wet.

i also seem to be getting damp in the boot at the moment but not a significant amount, but my daughters toy puschair has grown mould so ill check my lights and rear rubber as ive moved both recently

no, it's defo coming in at the top.

there's a channel under the strip mentioned above, and if I put my finger in the holes of it and feel around can feel the water in the channel. There just gets that much that it runs down the channel and out the side.

I haven't checked yet, but last year my spare wheel well was swimming in it.

I also have mould starting to grow, so need to get it sorted ASAP.

The best way to find any water leak is to strip the area and dry it off, sit inside with a torch and get someone on the outside with a hose pipe. It'll save you any guess work and pinpoint the cause swiftly.

but guessing is much more fun and gives you a reason to take bits apart on your car that the mrs cant argue about

True, but as it's in the boot, to stop water getting in during the test will involve having the boot closed.

So I need to get INTO the boot with a torch, have my assistant close the boot and then soak the car with a hosepipe.

I don't know anyone I trust enough NOT to shut the boot
