So how bad do you guys think this is?

I am trying to source a piece of a 1/4 panel to keep the shape and get it welded in.

won't know till you start to strip back to good metal m8 ;)
but what you see on the surface is usualy about a quater of what is underneath ;)

Thats started eating the metal.

80 grit sand it back to metal and see whats what. You can then temporarily prtect the exposed metal with an underseal until bodyshop.

I had a rust blister on the flat bit & thought 'here we go'.

But I brushed off the paint with the Dremel & it was just a tiny stone chip gone bad & bright underneath - bit like the top one there might be.

Bottom one where it's folded is f ucked though, I'm almost certain.

How old is the car?

Found this the other day at the bottom of the driver's side A pillar -

Any opinions on the best way of slowing that down? No way I can afford the inevitable windscreen out, new pillar job that is what it will probably need eventually.

PS, sorry for thread hijack, was going to post this anyway then saw this thread, can move it if you want.

You'll probably find that isn't as bad as you think it is.

Pull the windscreen surround trim off and if that rust penetrates under the screen and can't be sorted by just rubbing back, kurusting and re-painting what you can see, I'll be surprised.

Although saying that... Is that spalling on the windscreen I can see in the pic, in the same place? :?

The windscreen is cracked in the same spot... funny one, goes from one edge in a circle back to the same edge. Just outside the wiper area.

Makes me wonder if the screen was badly fitted.

Or it could be rust underneath it having caused the stress. :(

Only way to check is to get that trim off.
