maybe the new belt is wrong? but that doesnt explain the belt jumping before.

can i request some pictures of peoples 4th gen alts please so i can compare the pulleys.
the pulley for the powersteering pump is a 4-groove "V" belt, the pulley for alternator & air con is a 6-groove "V" belt.

if you look at your crank pulley that should confirm how many grooves per belt....get that alternator pulley whipped off and replaced ASAP before it shreds.

you can use 2 spanners to remove the alternator pulley but there's a high chance of damaging the central spindle...don't forget it's a reverse thread!

if you don't have one then you need to go and buy yourself an impact gun. Makita do a little beauty; 18v with 140Nm torque for about £140 with a battery & charger...you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Not on the alternator, that's the PS pump. ;)

And also there serpentine belts, not 'V' belts as such ;)

Well im sorted now, i had a jdm bb1 breaker and the alt on that has the correct number of teeth. strange that i have 2 with one less tooth though.

Maybe its different between ukdm and jdm?
