Mate of mine had a Skoda Superb. There were a couple of little red LEDs in the headliner that came on at night, not bright enough to give any glare or anything but enough to subtly light up the inside..

yeah they will be used when driving some of the time. i would have thought that there would be something to regulate the voltage before the fusebox though? or surely fuses would be popping all the time?

Voltage regulator is built into the alternator. But still it alows voltage to go up to 14.4V

All I know is:
1. I used some LED strips for underdash lights like you want it. I stick them on some ally strip to help cool down and they're fine. But I'm using them only when doors are open.
2. I did the same trick with my number plate illumination. I used 2 strips 9LEDs each. 3LEDs are already death and I have this for less time then underdash lights.

The only different is when I'm using them and for how long. I believe 14.4V is to much as they were disigned for 12V. They get overheated and stop working.
