I've just bought a 5G Prelude and the passenger side door mid/bass speaker is faulty (distortion at certain frequencies). I'd like to take the opportunity to upgrade the speakers (the stock ones look pretty basic/cheap), but they appear to be non-standard (6", shallow, 3-point mount), and the usual aftermarket sizes don't fit.
Are there any after-market speakers that fit straight in? Is there a popular choice of upgrade? Is it worth upgrading the tweeters at the same time?
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Re: 5G Door Speakers
I got 6inch ones and theyre a right muffin lol
I think 5.25 (5 1/4") is the ideal size, make sure theyre shallow mount as well
Mine (besides being too big for the basket thing) are now hitting off the metal bar behind the speaker holder bit
My advice is to measure mounting depth first and woro with the 5.25"
As for popular choice, i think Infinity is one alot of people use

How did you get around the metal bar behind the basket?RattyMcClelland wrote:Just cut it all out and you can fit any size components you like.

Ive most of it cut away but i still need to make an adaptor of some sort to hold it tight
